چکیده

Let A be a Banach algebra. We call a pair (G,A) a Gelfand theory for A if the following axioms are satisfied: (G 1) A is a C∗-algebra, and G : A → A is a homomorphism; (G 2) the assignment L 7→ G−1(L) is a bijection between the sets of maximal modular left ideals of A and A, respectively; (G 3) for each maximal modular left ideal L of A, the linear map GL : A/G−1(L) → A/L induced by G has dense range. The Gelfand theory of a commutative Banach algebra is easily seen to be characterized by these axioms. Gelfand theories of arbitrary Banach algebras enjoy many of the properties of commutative Gelfand theory. We show that unital, homogeneous Banach algebras always have a Gelfand theory. For liminal C∗-algebras with discrete spectrum, we show that the identity is the only Gelfand theory (up to an appropriate notion of equivalence).

Homomorphism Weak amenability of certain Banach algebras

In this paper we introduce the notion of $varphi$-commutativity for a Banach algebra $A$, where $varphi$ is a continuous homomorphism on $A$ and study the concept of $varphi$-weak amenability for $varphi$-commutative Banach algebras. We give an example to show that the class of $varphi$-weakly amenable Banach algebras is larger than that of weakly amenable commutative Banach algebras. We charac...

Spectral Measures

The theory of spectra for Banach algebras is outlined, including the Gelfand-Nǎımark theorem for commutative B∗-algebras. Resolutions of the identity are introduced, with examples; finally, we prove the spectral theorem for bounded normal operators on a Hilbert space, and conclude with some applications.

On Existence and Uniqueness of Universal Enveloping Locally C*-algebra for a Locally Jb-algebra

A theorem is presented on existence and uniqueness up to the topological *-isomorphism of universal locally C*-algebra for an arbitrary locally JB-algebra. The abstract Banach associative symmetrical *-algebras over C, so called C*algebras, were introduces first by Gelfand and Naimark in []. In the present time the theory of C*-algebras become a vast portion of Functional Analysis having connec...

Sufficient Conditions for the Projective Freeness of Banach Algebras

Let R be a unital semi-simple commutative complex Banach algebra, and let M(R) denote its maximal ideal space, equipped with the Gelfand topology. Sufficient topological conditions are given on M(R) for R to be a projective free ring, that is, a ring in which every finitely generated projective R-module is free. Several examples are included, notably the Hardy algebra H∞(X) of bounded holomorph...
